CHOOSING YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER

The following are a few helpful tips to bear in mind when choosing your wedding photographer;

Pricing;
When comparing prices it’s important to make sure that you’re comparing like for like. Check exactly what you are getting for each price quoted. Also ask for a price list for additional albums and prints in case you wish to order extra items with your album.

Coverage;
How much of the wedding day is photographed – when does the photographer start and finish.

Samples;
Ask to see recent samples of the photographer’s wedding work and make sure to ask to see an album of one recent complete wedding – seeing only a portfolio of the photographer’s best work will not show you what you can realistically expect for your wedding album.

Insurance;
Ask your photographer if he/she is insured. A professional photographer should at a minimum have public liability coverage, while additional coverage for professional indemnity protects both you and the photographer in the event of a dispute or non delivery of services/goods.

Qualifications;
While qualifications are not necessarily essential, a membership of an organisation like the Irish Professional Photographers Association ensures the photographer is registered, qualified, insured and has agreed to terms of professional practice.

Style;
Make sure that the photographers work suits you and see how adaptable he/she is to your individual needs and requirements. Check that the photographer’s personality suits you and your guests.

References;
The photographer should be able to provide you with contact details for several recent couples so that you can ask other people about their wedding day experience and subsequent service.
